67 4X4 questions
Finally feeling better and started to sort out my parts for my 67 SWB CST 4X4.
I bought the truck in West Virgina and went by waht i saw and what the former owner said. The spid is on the glove box but is unreadable. It is a 67 CST SWB 4x4 that was orginally a 292. It has many options but as i have taken it apart not all seem orginal to the truck. All the sheet metal is wasted and I am swaping out the cab and the rest of the sheet metal. That's why the questions: All this relates directly to the 67 metioned above. 1. Did they come with in dash air and what differences from the 69-72 2. tilt (floor shifter) with a cruise turn stalk and transducer mounted on fender well but other than the speedo cable no other cruise parts, stock? 3. Any pictures of a 292 in a 4X4? have boxes of stuff but not enough strenth to mock everything up over and over. Need pictures of frame/engine mounts/brackets . Has 292 crossmember in it 4. If in dash air is factory A/C for a 292 what do the a/c brackets for the compressor look like 5. Didn't figure out the gear ratio's but both front and rear axles are posi, no tags on rears. Took covers off but doesn't look like any replacement was done, just fuild drained for mantainence 6. What row radiator would have been a heavyduty cooling option? 3 or 4 row and would it have a full shroud or the eyebrow one. 7. Doors need to be replaced because of rust, how can I punch not drill the CST emblem holes? 8. I need to replace 3 spring perches because of being bent, or broke off of the frame then welded back on. I have the perches, how can I make it look factory? Rerivet using ? or rosette weld it then grind down to look like a rivet. 9. Truck has tack and vacumm gauges, not orginal to the dash but it has been replaced. Factory option? If factory (tach) what redline for a 292? Enough for now, Thanks in advance trying to do one restored in my life time. want everything to have been either orginal to the truck (good luck) or a an option available to this 67 292/4speed/SWB/4X4 truck. Re: 67 4X4 questions
#1. I have a 67 cab with factory air. The only dash area difference I have come across is in the drivers side dash outlet. The area that mounts to the dash bottom does not have a semi-circular cutout as do the 69-72 outlets. This is because starting in 69 the E-brake mounting screw needed clearance whereas in 67-68 there was no obstruction in that area. All the repop vents have the semi-circle cut out becuase they also fit 69+. The 67-68 driver side vents are very hard to find.
Can't help on the other questions.

Re: 67 4X4 questions
It's a beginning...........thanks.
I noticed that difference but wasn't sure. I didn't want to switch cabs and put in the a/c if it wasn't stock. My 68 4x4 burb has factory ait but it is mounted to the roof not in the dash |

Re: 67 4X4 questions
My 68 has the Extra Cooling system. it looks like a 4 row with a full fan shroud. I have factory tach with no redline on it.

Re: 67 4X4 questions
I *think* all inlines just came with the finger guard shroud... not 100% positive though.
Tilt was not avalible in 67 Nor cruise control nor vacume (not on a 10 - 30 series anyways) The redline was not marked on the gas engine tachs, at least, not the 10 - 30 series |

Re: 67 4X4 questions
Yes, I had a 6 cyl tach and it had no markings on the back where as the 8 cylinders I've seen had "8 cyl" stamped on the back. Not to mention, I knew it was a 6 cyl tach when it read too high on my BB.

Re: 67 4X4 questions
The spring perches were rivited onto the frame with HEAVY rivits that you will not be able to reproduce---You can bolt them back on but use the right size bolts (#5or8s hardness) so they fit snug. You could grind off the bolt heads a bit to make them look like rivits but I wouldn't bother. 67 is kind of a 1 year wonder for a lot of stuff so unless you are trying to build a perfect restoration, I would tend to allow for a bit of custom---you will save a lot of time, money and hair. Actually, I want to do as close to factory as possible on it. Don't have much hair left anyway!
