No dash lights or taillights and parking lights

This morning I went out to go to work and my 71 gmc had no dash lights or tail lights or parking lights. I check the fuse under the dash and it was ok. Where should I go to next?

Re: No dash lights or taillights and parking lights

May be a ground issue or maybe the headlight switch itself...........Joe

all the power for these runs through the light switch. check the connections there.

brake lights don't go through the headlight switch.
Did you test that fuse, or just look at it? They can blow clear up at the end and you can't see it.
You defenatly have a power problem, those all run off that one fuse.

time to get the test light and find out where you stop getting power. I suspect it'll be close to the fuse box being that it branches out afterwards.

He said he had no tail lights (running lights I expect)...not brake lights. Parking lights being those side marker lights, or the front amber lights.

Re: No dash lights or taillights and parking lights

since you say the headlights are working you must have power to the switch. i would bet there is a bad connection at the switch.

Re: No dash lights or taillights and parking lights

OK, start at the fuse box, looking for power. remove the fuse, and make sure the holders are not corroded/rusted. You'll probably shatter the fuse removing it, so have glasses on, and have a spare fuse in your pocket.
I am 99% positive your problem is in that area since everything on that circuit is dead...and assumingly all at once.
