Intake Gasket Maker What Kind
I'm getting ready to replace my front and back intake gasket because of leakege and would like to know what RTV sealant to use. I have ultra black Hi-temp #598B- blue rtv 6b and would like to know which one is best to use. I also would like to know if I shoud use the clear rtv adhesive sealant on the intake bolt threads. I have a 350 with a weiand intake.

Re: Intake Gasket Maker What Kind
I used the black for my intake. It worked beautifully with no leaks. I didn't use the gaskets for the front and rear; I've never had any luck with them so I just use RTV. Not sure about the clear for the bolts. I just cleaned the threads on mine before re-installing. Hope this helps.

Re: Intake Gasket Maker What Kind
I used Locktite #2 gasket sealant when I was having problems. No problem since......

Re: Intake Gasket Maker What Kind
The ultra black is for use on gaskets that come in contact with oil-such as your intake. The blue is best for water.

Re: Intake Gasket Maker What Kind
Use the black for the intake ends. Get some liquid teflon sealant for the bolt threads.

Re: Intake Gasket Maker What Kind
I ALWAYS USE BLUE RTV SYLICON SEALENT & FEL-PRO GASKETS ON INTAKE MANIFOLDS & I ALWAYS SEAL THE THREADS WITH THE SAME SEALER I USE ON THE HEAD BOLTS. (IT KEEPS OIL FROM WORKING UP AROUND THE THREADS & LAYING ON YOUR INTAKE. JOHN
