69-70 C30 price question

I was driving down the street the other day and noticed this truck sitting in a yard for sale. Thinking that it may be a very useful work truck with the dump box and all I stopped to look at it last night. Being from Iowa I was not surprised to find that it had absolutely no rockers or cab corners. I'm not sure about the floorboards. The mechanicals look to be in great shape but I have not seen it in the daylight or heard it yet. The fenders and both doors are straighter than the ones I started with on my resoration and the grille is better than the one on my truck. The 350 looks used but not a gooey ball of oil and dirt like some of them. 4 speed tranny, new rims on the rear, good rubber all around. The box is an Omaha Standard and the sides look fine but the floor is rotted out. I think they put plywood down over the rotted floor. Any Idea what something like this would be worth? I can see that this truck could be useful around home and also be a small project at some point. But I am also preparing for a Baby in January. I don't want to spend a fortune. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nathan

Re: 69-70 C30 dump box question

I bought a '69 3500 GMC with a masonary dump box for $900 a few years ago. Needed Cab Floors, and the passengers side fender has a crinkle in the front, and the box needed new steel.............But all were fixed and its been a great truck, I originally bought it because it was cheap and I didn't think I would use it much, but once you have a t-tag around you can find alot of things to use it for.

The seller wants 1,500 or best offer. He says mechanicaly it is in great condition, all the lights except for brake lights work and he thinks it has 60 some thousand miles. Would 1500 be too much, seems about right to me?

Re: 69-70 C30 dump box question

Wood is cheap, the dump unit is not. Depending on the size and make. Is it a PTO or Electric diven unit? Single or dual cylinder? Test it for leakdown at the full up position. If you had to buy the whole unit they are about 400 & up. Offer 11 and tell him it will take 300-400 just to fix the cab & bed.
