I have a new 4 core rad and a BB motor. I have no fan shroud and was wondering what I should do for a fan? Should I use a regular stock 70's style 4 blade metal fan or a clutch style fan and find a shroud or what else? I don't want to spend the money on an electric fan setup unless I can't find a shroud.

HEI question- What size wiring should I use to go from the distributor to the fuse panel?

As far as the BB/fan shroud combo, I can't help.

For the HEI, I used 10 ga. Most people will tell you this is overkill, but it's better to have a wire that's larger than suggested, than to have a wire that is too small and gets too hot. From what I have heard, 12 ga. is sufficient.

I 2nd that, i also have a 10 guage wire to my HEI. If you are running an engine driven fan, a shroud is a needed item. I prefer a flex fan over the clutch fans, & have run a flex a lite plastic fan with good luck on anything from a 327 chev to a 455 Olds. Do be careful not to buzz the throttle while standing over the engine. Good luck......crazy AL

Best Electric Fan Set up is a 1992 Furd Escort. They are 2 speed, and by far move more air than any other. I use these in my stock car. A 4 blade fan works well to though, I use one of these and a shroud out of a Nova for my wifes stock car. I am putting the electric fan setup on my 69 4X4 Conversion when the time comes.(in about 2 months god willing) A lot less noisy.

I have a clutch fan on my small block with no shroud...only an inline finger protector. It gets about 10 degrees warmer in traffic than the T-stat's rating.
Try it while you look for a shroud. It's getting cold out now anyways. Just make sure your temp guage works, and you'll be fine.
