serpentine belt questions ?????????
to start with, is a serp belt set up off a 4.3 V-6 the same set up as a 5.0/5.7 V-8. i picked up the full front bracket--the stamped steel one that wraps completely around the front of the motor, crank pulley, p-s pump with pulley and water pump with pulley. i believe it all came off an astro van.
secondly, if it is the same as a V-8, what would be a fair price to ask for all of it ? if it isn't the same and/or has no value, we have a big scrap metal bin at work.

Re: serpentine belt questions ?????????
Im not sure if they are completely identical but I do know the 4.3 will bolt up to the 5.0 and 5.7. I think there are quite a few using this system so it does have value. How much? I am unsure. But here is you a bump.

Re: serpentine belt questions ?????????
There maybe some slight differences in the crank pulley depending on the year and vehicle they came from I don't know the exact models, but some will have a deeper (thicker) lower pulley because the crank damper differences. The upper support braces between the serp setup and the intake manifold will also vary between the V8 and V6 models.

Re: serpentine belt questions ?????????
What you have is the same as my bro's astro van. It should bolt up to a 350 but personally the aluminum brackets are more desirable.

I'm not sure and maybe somebody else can verify that you may need a reverse direction water pump with the serpentine system. It seems I ran into that on an '88 SUburban I used to have. |

Re: serpentine belt questions ?????????
Yes, absolutely you will need to change water pumps. You may also need a fitting on the radiator for the heater line if the replacement water pump does not have a place to hook up the heater coolant line.
