Core Support - repair or repop ?

What's your experience with aftermarket 72 core supports ? I need to do a little rust repair ( battery side ) on mine , plus sand blast and paint , might be cheaper to just replace . Whatta y'all think .

Re: Core Support - repair or repop ?

Depends on if you have welding equip. I made a patch to replace the rusted area under the battery and sandblasted & painted mine, but then GMC supports are harder to find. Never used a repro support so can't comment on them.

I know truckandcarshop had them at our last swap meet for $125 so it seemed like a good deal.

Re: Core Support - repair or repop ?

There is a patch panel available for the battery rust, I have done both ways and I would either fix the original, find a better original, last resort would be a repop, they take some work to get to fit, they are ok, just not an exact replica.

Just make a patch and repair your own. Not very hard. Here is what I did.
