Turn signal indicator wiring - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I put Autometer Gauges in the truck a while back, but I never got around to wiring the indicator light back in. I have a wiring diagram that shows that the light blue wire in the loom is for the left signal, and the dark blue is for the right, but are they on an intermittent ground system. I stripped a small section of wire to test them ,and when I put the ground wire to the light blue wire, and the hot wire to a keyed source the light would light up, and when I turned on the turn signal it would flash. How are these supposed to be wired in? I don't mind them not working, but I would like to get them working because I took the extra time to keep the stock arrow cutouts when I modified the inserts to accept the new gauges.

Try running the ground wire, to a ground, and the hot wire directly to the turn signal hot wire. I think that's what I did with mine, when I had the custom cluster in.

I tried that one already and I got nothing. That is what I did first and lead me to ask about the intermittant ground system.

Oh, ok. I really don't remember how they're wired now, let me grab my extra cluster, and take a look at the printed circuit, I'll get back to you asap.

They appear to be grounded, through the printed circuit, to the back of the cluster. If you look in the attached pic, at the circuit, on the far right side, near the top, you can see the little self tapping screw, that screws into the back of the metal cluster, and grounds the circuit.

From the printed circuit it looks to be a standard setup with the light blue and dark blue wires being hot, but if that is true, why would the test light come on when I use the blues as grounds, and put power to the other end? And when it is hooked up this way, the light stays on when the turn signal is off, and blinks when it is on. This is a little weird.
