LMC Kickpanel Speaker Enclosures

Has anyone installed the kickpanel speakers from LMC? I think they are called "Custom Audio".

I installed the one on the passengers side fairly easily. Had to do a little customizing to get it to fit but not too bad. Then I moved over to do the drivers side and the first thing I notice is that it looks like I will lose my emergency brake. Any way around this short of sending them back? Also what do I need to do about my hood release?

Thanks for any tips or advise. BTW my truck is an '85 C-10.

hmmm.
don't know about the lmc ones, I got the qlogic set, ebrake will hit, but my hood pull is fine. With my new speakers, it CrAnKs! I live in Florida, not many hills, I don't really care about the ebrake, right now anyway. Don't think I have ever used one, except on a stick shift.

This is good to know as I was contemplating buying the same pair. Keep us posted on what LMC Truck says.

Why not just mount your speakers in the door? For all the single cab trucks I've owned, that's what I've always done.

Re: LMC Kickpanel Speaker Enclosures

OK I went ahead and tackled this thing tonight. I unbolted the hood release and took out the stock plastic panel that fits above the kick panel. When I first looked at this project, I didn't think that the e-brake would clear the speaker at all...but it does...., but just barely.

I then remounted the hood release into the kick panel enclosure with a little "southern ingenuity"

The sound quality of the speakers is decent....(I really need a sub....my bass is not existent).

pcmcobra, I know what you mean, the only reason I was concerned about the e-brake was for state inspection. I really wanted the Qlogic's but I'm known for being frugal (my wife says cheap, but who listens to her anyway ) so I went with the LMC's

andrist1, due to the somewhat poor fit (on the passenger side) and lack of any installation tips or instructions, I can't "highly recommend" these enclosures but I will say that they are what I was looking for....which is a decent sound upgrade for not a lot of $$$$. If your looking for some type of high end sound system then you will be disappointed. But they were a huge improvement for me....the only sound I had was coming from a pair of pioneer 4x10s behind the seat. And you can always change out the speakers to something higher quality later if you want. The kickpanel enclosures themselves are OK.

FYI - I emailed Q Logic last week and they now make pods for 6.5" speakers. I have not received them yet, but will post after they are installed.

Re: LMC Kickpanel Speaker Enclosures

here is a pic of my qlogic's installed. good sound quality and easy installation. the only problem i had was the parking brake would sometimes rub so i just took the rubber piece off of the foot pad and no more problems.

I can honestly say from personal experience, I wish I had not mounted mine in the door. I bought 6x9s and we hacked up the door and put them in, ran the wires no problem. But they sound terrible. The door is ANYTHING but a tight enclosure, so I have to run the highest frequency on my high pass filter to keep them from rattling and distorting and farting. Had I done research and found the kickpanel units like QLogic for 6.5s, that's the route I would have gone.

Now that I have a "new" cab that will be going on my truck, I will be buying Qlogic or similar kickpanel enclosures.

Re: LMC Kickpanel Speaker Enclosures

Parking Brake? What is that? Never use it. If I do I usually get in take off and wonder why the car or truck is dragging. Not a good thing. Maybe if I had to park on a hill but do not have to do that here.

Re: LMC Kickpanel Speaker Enclosures

i made my own so i could stage them right (i went to school for this )
i looked at makeing kick panels but the best sound would come from the door " long story " that and i would kick them all the time
the driver and pass side are at different angles to get the maxim sound
