Bench seat

Can you make a stock bench seat recline forward? Or do you have to get a new seat if you want that feature?

Re: Bench seat

I have not done this particular convert myself. but being an Upholsterer myself. You can do this but it would involve doing some redoing of your seatframe. and your covers. It might be cheaper to find a newer seat and have it covered to match your truck.

Re: Bench seat

Mine folds forward 7 or 8 inches. It had 2 bolts in each side. I just removed the back bolt on either side and now I can get behind it.

Re: Bench seat

When I had one, that is how I did mine. Just take the one screw/bolt on on each side and you are in business.

Re: Bench seat

if ya remove that bolt what keeps it from crushing you in an accident ?? im guessing your only removeing the bolt long enough to pull it forward then putting the bolt back right ?

Re: Bench seat

How does that effect the "dog ears" from the top seat cover? Can they still be attached as before or will it pull them loose when you fold the seat forward?

YOUR SEATBELT! If you are in an accident and your seat "crushes" you I can't see that little bolt stopping anything. Hopefully you gas tank is secured...

Re: Bench seat

My stock bench flips forward with a lever on the rear. I heard this was only available on some 67' trucks. It was in my truck when I bought it.

No problem Randy, you are welcome to it, i'll be looking at that bolt a little later today. If i'm going to be putting my amps and subs back there i want access to it when i want and if all it takes it to remove two bolts then very cool, but if you take those bolts out, will the seat bang when you hits bumps i wonder?

Re: Bench seat

I've never had a problem with it folding forward at the wrong time. Just make sure everything is tied down really well behind it.
