LED under chassis lights

OK OK i know, but on those nights where i want to be a little different i like the idea of flipping a switch and lighting (flooding) the ground with a green haze of lights. Has anyone done this? Installed a full system of LED lighting under the body, with remote?

Let me know how you did it and what system you purchased and how much.

Re: LED under chassis lights

Maybe I have too much time on my hands, but pg. 70 of LMC's summer catalog has a setup that might work for ya. $240 for 7 colors w/ remote. I don't have any pics though.

Re: LED under chassis lights

I have no idea where my photos are, but I had a green '65 C-10 stepper that was as low as you could get (back before Air Ride) that had a green 'neon' system under it. The green light just ooooozed out from under it. It had baby moon hubcaps, too, so it was not the bling-bling look at all (or as grandma calls it....blink-blink)
It can be done right....but it's so easy to do it WRONG! Stay away from the chopsticks

Re: LED under chassis lights

I was thinking of getting red ones and mounting them behind the bumper and under the bed behind the rear end... and having it hooked up to the brake lights

Re: LED under chassis lights

Check http://www.jcwhitney.com/ or http://www.stylinconcepts.com/

There was one guy on the board with a slammed white PU who had underbody lighting. I can't remember his name though. I think there were pictures of him at Hot August Nights posted.

Re: LED under chassis lights

The last time this was fashionable before todays kids/ricers (what would you call people that drive little tinfoil french hatchbacks? Snailers?) stole it was back in the late 70's when the customising in the UK involved taking your ford Capri or Morris Marina and adding 8" long shackles to the rear springs so you needed a ladder to get in the trunk, lakes pipes and a set of orange or red lights underneath.

Thats a coool idea, you would think that would avoid all possibilities of a rear end collision.

Re: LED under chassis lights

In Colorado, anything that emits red or blue light visible from the front of the vehicle will get you written up, or even tossed in the can (depending on attitude). It's know as Lacy' Law, enacted after a rash of police impersonations that ended up with a murder here in town. Colorado also has a law against using green light, as green is expressly meant for the command post of an emergency incident. Red, blue or green will get you in trouble.

And the LEO's around here are very good about making traffic stops for the neon underbody lights. I can't recall hardly seeing them anymore since just a few months after the law went into effect.

Point is - make sure you check local and state law before spending the $$$, as it seems police impersonation laws are becoming more and more common in more and more jurisdictions lately.

Let me get this straight. You asked about keeping a truck "pure" ... now you want advice on putting colored lights under the bottom. Ummm kay.

Anywhoo ... you'll notice my friend, I said "No Offense."

I still don't give a rat's a$$ what you do to your truck. Even if you make it look like a teenage cheesy ricer.

Your truck, ride proud. Just don't get offended when some giggle and point.
