Finally! Pics of my new K5 - The Sportchicken

well, i'll give a teaser...i can't post the # of pics i would like, so i set up a blog where i can track the progress. find more images much larger at the new blog
http://sportchicken.blogspot.com/

the one showing the original "Starting Instructions" above the driver's visor kills me...original, no less.

Re: Finally! Pics of my new K5 - The Sportchicken

So, What should I do with it?
Wife says the graphics have to go, but i'm not convinced. I do want to lift it a little, and some nice wheels with those kevlar tires...

upholstery needs replacement and a few dents pulled, but the paint is in great shape...

And i'm gonna need to find the pass. seat latch hardware from someone...

And how do i repair stuff like that in the top, where it has separated?

My single wall top looks the same inside.
maybe the separation is supposed to be there from the factory? Anyone else know? Mine also has the stress cracks above and is probably pretty common with these.

Wow! Thats in really nice shape and very well kept. I would almost have to try to keep it stock, but its up to you. My wife would agree with yours on the decals and the paint color. She hates that one. ITs not hers though!!! Do what you want. Looks like all you are missing on the seat bracket is the release handle. Someone should be able to hook that up. Nice ride! Jeff.

That is a sweet looking blazer, the graphics make it stand out. I would do a 2" lift with some 32"s and call it good, keeping the stock hubcaps of course.

i'd keep the graphics on it due to the rarity of it, its different don't see many of those at all, i'd try to find some NOS graphics for it or maybe have them reproduced

I agree with lilpup. Keep the decals, they are SUPER RARE!!

I cannot beleive how straight that thing is! I'd be tempted to keep it stock for the same reason, & the fact that it wouldn't need a lot of work.

Sweet find!

Later,

Buddy

Post #2, pic's #2 and #4, it's on the front of the spring eye, most people
just cut it off when they upgrade or replace their springs on the front, if
you look at pic #4 you will notice the passenger side does not have one.

Maybe keep the graphics, and ask your wife to keep her eyes closed till she gets into the truck j/k I have to lift my wife in,vertically challenged...

Beautiful truck, nice rare pieces

I would lift it 3'' suspension and 31's, problem is its never high enuff

Nice Rig! I would leave the body alone, it looks good as is, plus bodywork is expensive. I have the same starting instructions on my visor too. Now that it's injected, does that mean I need to make new instructions? Don't want to confuse anyone else that drives the truck (like that ever happens)

That's also the first thing I noticed ( extreme bend hooks ). Those are cool, wish I had them.

Also about that front drivers side spring hanger plate...what's that all about? Mine has it and I was afraid to remove because I thought I would disrupt the structural integrity of the hanger.

Sweet Ride! I like the decals for the rarity but not for the look. Having said that, I couldn't bring myself to sand them off if it was mine. You should preserve them just the way they are. P.S. what color are your door lock pulls - if they are original? I have same interior color and the PO had replaced with skinny chrome ones. I guessed brown when I replaced them.

No structural issues, just most people cut them out of there way
