drum to 5x4.75 disc conversion

The only reason it's 5x4.75 and not 5x5 is is because I found the wheels I want and they are only available in the 5x4.75 bolt pattern. I have a '69 C10 with 4 wheel drums and a 12 bolt rear. My question is is it going to be hard to find parts like rotors, calipers, etc because of the bolt pattern? In the rear I will be either redrilling my axles or buying new ones if they are available. If I remember correctly, CPP uses 5x4.75 in some of there kits. I'm not sure about ECE or any of the site vendors. Thanks for any help!

Re: drum to 5x4.75 disc conversion

Well i was in this same boat a few days ago. I would imagine that for the rear only you could find something that CPP offers in that bolt pattern. The problem you might run into is that bolt pattern is for passenger cars and usually the rotors are a little smaller than the ones for the truck. I tried to find some for my truck when i ordered but the only set i found were 11-" and i wanted a little bigger. If you decide to get a set with 5x5 bolt pattern if you have a little mechanical skill, because you have to pull the axels and not every one knows how to do that, it isn't very hard for a machine shop to redrill the rear axels and the rear rotors. You just need to make sure you buy 7/16 wheel studs because that is what 5x4.75 uses. 5x5 bolt pattern uses 1/2 studs. Like i mentioned that i just went through this and i ended up having my front and rear redrilled. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I should get my rotors back tonight if you want to see any pics.

Oh man. I should probably do my self a favor and look for a 5x5 rim. I've already got my axles out, I'm just trying to figure out what my next step is. It's all dependant on the rim and I've looked at hundreds so far and only like this particular one with a 5x4.75 bolt pattern. I'm too damn picky. Maybe I will call the company and see if they offer it in 5x5.

Re: drum to 5x4.75 disc conversion

Being picky is a good thing. I am extremely picky and i have spent way to much money just becaue i have to have something a certain way. It is ideal to try and find a set of wheels with a 5x5 bolt pattern but if you can't you could have your stuff redrilled and now since i went throught it I can help you out alot like what studs to use and where to buy them, what needs to be done to redrill the rotors, and what not. I spent all day yesterday running to different auto shops trying to track down enough 7/16 studs. Kragens only carries at the most 5 at each shop. I went down to 4 different ones and i am still short 3. I am sure i could have just ordered them online but i am inpacient. Anyways good luck

Ill sell you a Baer rear setup (4302043) drilled for 4 3/4" for 800 plus shipping. New in box, except for the grease and dust from trying to put them on and realizing the wrong bolt pattern.

Re: drum to 5x4.75 disc conversion

Rotor size are 13", and they are .81" thick. Decent stuff for the price.
