Re: door weather stripping question
Your local junkyard. They carry a wide range of Chevy trucks and vans that you can get great quality weatherstripping from. Just pull it and place it on your truck and cut to length. My pair were $5 total.

Re: door weather stripping question
are yall talking about the kind of stripping that is the same shape as the door or the kind that just comes in a roll?

Re: door weather stripping question
I got the cab kit from GMC Paul's that includes everything but the windshield strip.
I haven't installed it yet because I don't want to do it between rainstorms. It was the best looking kit out there and I have never had issues with orders from them. |

Re: door weather stripping question
I used junkyard S-10 seals on my 69, & had to "adjust" the pinchweld to get the doors to shut properly, but 5 bucks was a damn decent deal! Now my Chevy is wearing a 4" chop top, & I actually trimmed the S -10 seals about 4" top fit......my guess is the seal will be a tad short on a stock top tho..... L

Re: door weather stripping question
I got the no-glue weather strip from GMCPaul. The package says it is for a late 70's to '93 Dodge Pick-up and it pressed on really well and works fine. Came in a long strip and there was about 6" extra that had to be cut off. At least it wasent made in China ( was from Brazil)

Re: door weather stripping question
I used the weather stripping from a 1991 GMC full size truck. It seems to have worked good so far but have not driven it since installation. I had to cut about 2 inches from it. It cost me 8.00 at the pick n pull yard. Should have waited until the 1/2 price days.

Re: door weather stripping question
I used the weather stripping from the side sliding door of Astro vans. They seem to get less wear & tear because of there position and are often in real good condition. You get a couple feet extra from the big door, but you still have to find 2 to do both sides of a truck. If you go that rout there are 2 places that have a foam dowel inside the weather strip ( about 8 inches long by 1/2", you can feel it inside the strip ). That has to be removed or your door won't close, one can be removed when you cut the piece to get it out ( if the sliding door is still in place ), the other just pull out with needle nose plyers. There's tiny little holes in the stripping that you can pull the dowely pieces out through. I used a nail to get it started. Just another thing to look for at the junkyard for ya.
