ok lets figure out what im gonna do with my truck's

ok since you all are a bunch of great guys i figured i give you all a shot at what to do with my 68 gmc lwb..
now as you all know i am buying a lte 70's parts truck for the 350 that it has in it..runs good,,doesnt knock or smoke...now the quetion is,,should i pull the 454 out of my 84 3/4 and put it in my 68.. or should i just go ahead and do the 350 for now..i have no intention of the 350 being in there forever..but you never know with the luck i got...i can then put the 350 in the 84...
let see how this turns out...

Way easier to drop that 350 in the 68. And you won't have 2 rides down at the same time.

I have a 454 and TH400 in my '67 short box. When I'm out driving it I never want to go home..... It's a HOOT!! I can hear some of you now: "Damn kids need to grow up". The kicker is I'll be 64 the day after Christmas...

Like I tell my wife & kids, "You can make me grow old, but you can't make me grow up"..

You sound like it isn't a big deal to you to have to swap the motors so I would go for it..... Just my 2˘ worth.

Either would be fun. I say drop the 350 in 68 and like clay68c10 said, you won't have to have two rides down at the same time. It would be a lot less work as well.

454 in the '68. You will have to do some exhaust work to both trucks after the swap won't you. Which one is the daily driver?

Why swap twice? If you really want a 454 in the 68 then sell the 350 and buy one. Then you will have two gas hungry tire smokers...

I agree. Keep the 454 in the newer truk. If you want a BB in the 68, trade sell out thge 350 to get one.

Re: ok lets figure out what im gonna do with my truck's

the newer truck used to be my work truck..now it is parked for some needed rest..lol...the power steering pump went out and i just havent gotton around to putting in a new one yet...the engine swap is no big deal..i got most of the parts to do it already laying around..i been picking up and parting out trucks for the last couple of yrs..i got a turbo 400 to go behind the 454 if i put it in the 68,,i got a new dual exhaust i got out of a junked dually,,my problem with this swap is i personly dont like small blocks in truck with 4:10's in them unless im racing them...and i would personally rather have a 396 for the 68..but they are getting hard to find now...may have to take a road trip to get one...the 84 is a darn good truck,,just needs alittle tlc,,and it is back to great shape,,some of the parts off the parts truck are for the 84,,i killed to birds with one stone..

Re: ok lets figure out what im gonna do with my truck's

well just remeber the 396 i had in my old 71 chevelle..
plus wasnt it an option on these yr model trucks..im not restorring my truck,,
but when i do start building one,,i usually try to stick with what was an option when they were new..
and i know im not putting a 307 back in it..but mainly to be different..and its not set in stone..just the idea i had..but around here 396 are really hard to find...i wouldnt mind a 427 in it either..
