Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

I think that is the name of the town. I'm gonna be heading that way to get a new Landoll trailer for work. Not sure how much time I'm gonna have, but would like to check out some local yards and find parts for my 62 burban. Anything has to be better than whats on it and in yards up here. I think I'm going in the next 2 weeks, still not 100% sure. Anybody??

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Dang, man, you are making a long road trip! First thing I'd like to say is, if you are coming down I-29 and then going across Hwy 36 to Marysville, watch out for the cops in Wathena, Ks. It's a little town about 4 miles into Kansas after you cross the Missouri river. They get their jollies pulling everyone over for speeding, unlit licence plates or whatever they can get you for.

A friend of mine works at Landoll, in the forklift division. I originally came from Beatrice, Ne. about 35 miles north of there. About 20 miles or so north of Marysville is Wymore Ne.- where you will find Watt's Salvage. That yard is probably 40+ acres of cars & trucks. He doesn't crush much of the older stuff untill there is nothing left. Alot of old trucks too. Some is picked over pretty good, & alot of them are typical midwest rustbuckets. But you might be surprised what you may find if you have the time to look around for the better part of a day. IF he will let you browse. I never had any problem, but I've known him for 20+ years. I've heard he has become a little tough on new guys- doesn't like to just let them roam. I'm almost certain there has to be some old Burbs in there. If you approach him with what you are looking for, I bet he will be more likely to let you roam if he thinks he has it. He doesn't mind charging you what HE thinks it is worth though- so I would advise to find what you want, ask how much & then pull it. If you pull it first, he knows there is little chance you will leave it laying there when he tells you his price.

If you want, I'll get you a # & directions- he's a little off the beaten path.

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

When I find out more, I'll drop you a PM. It would be nice to find some fenders, inners, driver door for 60-63, and the real only burb parts that I need are for the window metal trim on the side windows. Hopefully I'll remember to bring some tools with me!!! Its a 1300 mile trip one way, and fed. law mandates 11 hours total on duty. I think that's how it goes, don't have to run a log anymore. But if that is the case, I *should* have time, but won't know till I get there.

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Dang, if it would have been next week Friday, I would have went. Are you driving a OTR truck, or a single axle daycab or something? It's about 1/2 mile of poorly graveled narrow road coming in from the east. A somewhat better road coming in from the west if I remember right, but still wouldn't be room to turn around an OTR truck if it was muddy. And no parking other than hanging off the side of the road.

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

It's a day cab Kenworth. Not too big. They use it for counter weights for the crane, and can manuever pretty good with it. It has a diff lock in it, so I have a small chance if I do get stuck lol. How far is this place from Marysville??

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

On the first pic, the road running at an angle is hwy 77. The yard is in the lower left corner. The first mile west off the hwy is an even worse goat trail. If coming in from the south, you would want to keep going north & "make the vee" as shown in the first pic. Or you could go the route of the second pic, which you would take the turnoff onto a asphalt road with signage for "Big Indian" lake.

About 20-25 miles. The hwy 77 North turnoff is on the west side of Marysville, outside of town.

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Oh yeah, if you would get there around noon & nobody's there, wait before going in- or Shorty the owner will get grumpy. Tell him Jeff that used to have Jeff's Repair in Beatrice told you it would be worth your drive all the way from NY to check out his parts!

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Right after your post went to local.live and punched in the address, but pic was didn't show anything. It's right off 77, and that is right on the way!!! Depending on what time I get there, I might rent a car or something, not sure if I want to take the chance of screwing up the truck, seeing that is my ride home!!! I really want to get my burban going, and if I get some parts for it that will motivate me that much more. Only thing I really want to get is some fenders and some inners, maybe a driver door. Not gonna have too much money, but I don't want to go empty handed. Clean rust free (close to rust free) parts are pretty much non-exsistant up here, inless they were sitting in a barn, then the owner want your first born. Getting siked now......

I found the yard on local.live. Dang that is a big yard!!!

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Are you coming down 77 out of Beatrice then? Beatrice will have a couple of car dealers that do rentals, Wymore & probably Marysville nothing. If it's not muddy/ snow or anything, shouldn't be any problem in your truck.

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Pretty sure that I will be coming down 77, looks to be the easiest way there. I'll wait and see what the weather is like, and go from there. Buddy might go with me, so if I do get stuck, he can push!!!

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Do you know if they have complete trucks there?? Or they overly priced? I asked my boss today if it was OK to bring some parts back, and he said I could bring a whole truck back if I wanted!!!!! Don't really another one, but if I can find one that's decent for a decent price, then I just might have to. But I'd REALLY like to find another burb, or at least a body. But that's probly stretching it.....

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Anything that is complete or nearly complete he will probably want close to what he feels it's worth parted out. Ya just never know. It's all up to his mood. Tuesday is going to be a cold day, so anything you are willing to pull he might be glad to make some cash, but not so crazy to fire up the wheel loader to drag out & load a whole truck. I've got an old timer friend I should check up on anyway, I'll call him tonight & see what he recalls for '63 & older burbs. Pickup doors are different, right?

Don't let Watts think the rig & trailer are yours, or he will think you are there with a fist full of cash- which BTW, is all he accepts for payment. Other than beer!

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

The doors have to be from a 60 to 63, truck or burb. I got a pass door that came off a truck, fits great. Not sure if I will be there Tuesday or Wednesday. Probly the latter, hopefully get out of Marysville early Wed, then hit the yard on the way. As for loading a body/truck, I can do that myself, long is it can get to the trailor, big 'ol winch on it!!!!! If not I will find a way to load it.

Re: Anybody near Marysville Kansas???

Went to the yard Tuesday. There are more 60-66 trucks there than I have seen in my life!!!! I was like a kid in a candy store, everywhere I looked I saw one!!! No burbs, tho. The ones that he did have are supposedly sold. Good thing, cause the trailer didn't have the hydraulic lines to it, so was just a flatbed trailer. I found a really nice door, and found some fenders and inners, but they were covered in snow, couldn't really where the bolts where. I was happy with the door, only charged me $100. It was complete, but didnt that stuff anyways. I guess business has been slow, kept telling me to come back. If it wasn't 1289 miles away I would!!!
