1961 Apache frame issues
A friend of mine might be giving me his old 1961 chevy apache 10 shortbox fleetside pickup. Its pretty rusty but i am going for a rat rod look so the body isnt a big issue. however the frame looks like swiss cheese. I have noticed that people with the 55-59 pickups were putting s10 frames under their trucks. Are there any later model truck frames that the 61 body can sit on without alot of modification?

Re: 1961 Apache frame issues
it should bolt on to a 1960 or 62 frame.you could modify a 63-66 frame to work.

Re: 1961 Apache frame issues
I put my 61 cab on 64 chevy frame, only modification was to move the front mounts in a few inches, this can be done by drilling new holes to match the frame.Other than that there isnt anything else to e done the back mounts stay where they are at. And you can use the mechanical clutch setup to make a power brake upgrade easier. So I assume any 63-72 frame would work if you wanted to upgrade your front suspension. For the 73-87 you would probally have to modify the mounts on the frame and I think theres 2 more inches of wheelbase.
