hello all
I recently posted about painting wagon wheels for my 67 gmc pickup. My intention was to get new rims along with new tires. As my funding dried up I had to let go the rims and deal with what I have. I have 4 wagon wheels with a ton of rust. 2 are bad enough I dont think they are safe to drive on. I did find 2 of the original wheels at my fathers house. So without thinking I took the best 2 rims from the truck and the 2 stockers and spent the time bead blasting, priming and painting. They came out looking pretty good. I would post picks but the wife has the camara.

I new the stock wheels were thinner than what I was using but I did not realize how much. The wagon wheels are 8 inch and the stock wheels are 5.5 inch. I dont think my original plan of 235X75X 15's all around will work anymore.

What is the largest tire I can put on the stock 15X5.5 rims? I did try the search feature but may not have worded it right.

235/75r15s should fit fine hopes this helps

Truckdude239 thanks for the reply. While looking on tirerack.com the rim size for a 235/75r/15 bfgoodrich radial long trail is 6 to 7 inches. This leaves both sets of rims out.
Are these just "recommended" sizes? Would the tire look "balloony" on the thinner rims. Would this lead to more flex in the sidewall?
Please pardon the questions I really have no clue in this area. The more I research the more confused I seem to get.

I took truckdude's advice and had the 235's installed. I think the end result came out very well. What do you think?

Find a set of 6-lug ralleys, just don't pay a forture for em' 100-125 is enough,

You can buy painted 6-lug ralleys through summit for 55-60 bucks, last I knew.
