Bb Headers........

I know this has probably been asked a ton of times but i cant find any info in the archives. i just put a 396 in my 1970 2wd. In doing so i moved the motor mount brackets back and aslo the tranny crossmember to make sure i have enough room for the bigger rad and electric fan. I used the STOCK 350 motor mount brackets and now i cant seem to find a set of headers to fit that clear the mount bracket. The front tube from cyl 1 hits. Do they make headers for a big block where the front tube comes up and over the rest (i know they make some like this for a small block) Thanks for any help!

Re: Bb Headers........

You need to use big block mounts to clear your headers or get a set of manifolds. Manifolds will clear the stock small block mounts.

Re: Bb Headers........

so nobody makes a set of headers for this application.....looks like im gonna be doin some fabricating. The motor mount i bought to fit a 396 in a 68-70 model cost like 80 BUCKS!! for one mount. Anyone ever tried shorty headers?

Re: Bb Headers........

Try looking at 4x4 headers, they are made to set back away from the mounts/crossmembers.
