My advice to you is, dont buy any of that crap at pepboys, carquest, checker, napa, etc. take the alt that you have now down to a local starter/alt rebuild house and they will hook you up with exactly what you want for amps, and when it will kick in. unless you just sit in your truck and dont move, you wont have any trouble with it charging....
