my truck after the 4/6 drop
The only thing I didnt like was the fact that the front tires got pushed outward an inch or two after converting the front to disc. Their still tucked though.
My fix for a better look will be getting wider tires for the back and a little thinner up front. |

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
What size tires and wheels are they front and back?

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
Nice looking truck! I've been thinking about adding disks for awhile and that's the one thing that bugs me about it is the wider track width. The 71 & 72's rear axle was wider to match the fronts, but finding & installing a 5 lug axle for the rear is a lot of work for little gain. Then there's the 5 lug / 6 lug problem. If you figure something out that works on the rear, I'd sure be interested to know. In addition to the different sized tires, I was thinking maybe some wheels in the rear that had an additional 3/4 inch added to the width on the outside of the wheel. Like a deeper dish rim, if that is a better description.

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
I really like that truck . One of these days .....
I run 15 x 7 six lug ralleys up front , with the more common 15 x 8 out back . I don't like wide front wheels , just me , lol . Later .............................. Doug

Nice...I really like it...and I am not a fan of dropped trucks.
Just enough to give it an edge.

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
I've never heard of 15x7 6-lug ralleys. Do you have any pics that show the diff between your 7's & 8's?

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
I'm not sure a pic would show much , the 7's don't have as much offset . I can spot 'em a mile away by how the factory trim ring looks . My 68 is in storage or i'd shoot a pic . The 7's are factory , though i don't really know what they came on . I got my last pair at the Portland Swap Meet years ago .

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
Looks good... any plans on changing that back bumber? If so I have a cousin in California who is building a demolition car who could use that big hunk of steel you got as a bumber.....

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
Damm I read the thread about potential spacing on the tires. I just boght my 2756015 Khumos only because I had 2 new ones on the truck when I bought them so I wanted to match them. There was a horor story on getting the last 2 in the west coast maybe country (backorder). I have a 68 stepside that's still on drums what do I need to look out for when converting over...Do I need to get a thinner front tire.....I didn't know about the different offset after the conversion.

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
thanks for all the comments, other than the fronts being pushed out that inch or 2 no problems at all.
Noah Dallas.... I like the rear bumper, its painted with house paint left over after we painted my cousins whole truck with a bucket or two of off white from home depot. We may just put it on his when I convert to a chrome bumper later. |

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
yeah same with mine when i converted to disc drop spindles and then stepped to the back of the truck and stood there for about ten minutes try to figure out what the heck i did wrong. I was thinking of trying to find a 71-72 coil spring rear end, or are they hard to find. I had my axels redrilled for 5 on 5 pattern and really dont like the screw in studs moss brothers installed.

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
I agree , Ralley's all the way . I always run 255's on 7's on the front and 275's on 8's on the rear . I like 10 inch on the back , but only on zero offset ( 5inch backspacing ) but you have to watch your clearance on the inside . Maybe i'm wrong , but on the aftermarket wheels i've seen the're dual bolt pattern and not quite " right " . I'll be looking for a pair of 15 x 10 six hole soon .
Later ..................................... 409 .

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
The 7" ralleys are not real common. They did come on both 5-lug and 6-lug.

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
To my knowledge. They only came on 4x4 blazer's thru late-70's or early 80's... I'm wanting 2 of the 15 x 7's myself... although I haven't started looking yet...

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
Nice stance! I have a couple of those 6 hole 7"s. I guess I should list them on the parts board, but I have no idea what they are worth. They are the only ones that I have ever seen, but I didn't realize that they were desireable.

Re: my truck after the 4/6 drop
If your objective is to get the rear wheels farther out near the edge of the wheel opening, you could go to a '69/'70 6 lug rear. I think they're a couple of inches wider than the '67.
