finally working on the 68......
I got my 68 step side June of last year but have had to wait to get started on it. Now that I have moved back to Florida and have my garage back it is time. I have the motor almost ready. Finally got it back and started assembly. Next step is get the 68 in the garage and start disassembly. More to come..

Re: finally working on the 68......
I know how you feel man. I just bought a 68 short bed stepside right before Christmas. I got the engine tore down and part of the frame primered and painted. Now it has turned cold here in southern Illinois and I dont have heat in my garage. Paint don't stick when it is 20 degrees outside. Hmmm....I wonder how my wife would feel about bringing the engine into the living room???

Re: finally working on the 68......
I am going to do a complete tare down on the truck. I am looking for the pro street look but I won't be narrowing the rear. Going to put fuel cell in the back, shave the firewall, complete custom dash and alot of other things as I go. I have never tackled anything like this before but I am going to give it a go. As for the motor it is a 69 350 Vette motor. It has a few things done to it. It has a crane 525 lift 292 duration roller, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Kieth Black 12:1 pistons, Easle rods and crank, Edelbrock super Victor intake with a 750 Holley. The heads are 2.02 1.60 fuely heads that have been slightly ported and polished with a little bowl work done. I plan on adding a 2 stage NOS system to it to finish ot off. That is where I am at for now I will post as I get more done. Thanks for the compliments.

Re: finally working on the 68......
mvfd70 wifes don't like that at all. Mine threw a fit while we were in Maryland and the engine sat in the dining room. How was I to know that was not a good idea.

Re: finally working on the 68......
Cool looking truck. I happen to have it's year older sibling apart in my garage right now... they looked just about identical to be honest... with about the same body (well used to anyway. The floors and rockers are now done as of this weekend.
man, I have to start a build thread....

Re: finally working on the 68......
Here is what I got done last night. Removed hood, cowl, seat, gas tank and pulled the old engine and tranny out. Very happy to find no major rust
