what is it?

what is the solinoid for on the right side of a q-jet used for? what does the wire hook up to? it looks to me like it is to idle the engine up while the a/c is running. the truck i saw it on was in the salvage yard and did not have a/c. pn 500 in the pick

I believe that is the electric choke - I could be wrong though.

Choke is on the left 336-350

Its some sorta idle sol.Are you sure that carb didnt come off an A/C truck originally.

it will idle the truck up when you switch the A/C on. Say if you are in a parking lot and switch it on, the solenoid would idle the truck up so the a/c wouldnt kill it. my truck has one, but im pretty sure it doesnt work lol

I'm not certian, I think it is an anti-dieseling solonoid. Turn on the ignition, and it kicks on. The engine will use this as a throttle stop on the idle side of the throttle range. Turn off the ignition switch, and it retracts, shutting the butterflies allt he way. Helps to prevent run on, or dieseling. Early smog control stuff.
