New guy with a 1968 K10 SWB 4x4
Hi guys, been a long time fan of these trucks, finally got my hands on one a week ago. She's a 1968 K10 SWB with the optional 327 4 barrel and a 4 speed. Looks like a pretty rare critter, only 1449 K10 short wide beds made that year. Going to find out if the engine is original or not, then decide which way to go, mod or restoration. She has a LOT of rust!

Welcome - your truck just needs some sweat equity (well, a little money too) and it will clean right up.

Love the swb 4x4's! There's so many 67-72 trucks in rural CO/WY. Where you from, Grand Junction?

Re: New guy with a 1968 K10 SWB 4x4
Good to hear from you guys. Yeah, I live up here in Craig, 19 degrees this morning, just another day in paradise!
Clay, I agree with you, there does seem to be a lot of these trucks in this area (NW CO/SW WY). Most of them were bought for work and they have been rode hard and put away wet! I picked this truck up from a kid in Steamboat Springs, he said he got it out of a ranchers field. I drove it home, 42 miles, 55 mph all the way. :<)) Up here 4x4 wasn't an option, it was a requirement. My new little project also has a posi listed on the glovebox, I bet it's a pretty good off roader. |

You always see cool stuff out in the sticks. My wife and I are originally from WY and are looking to get back up that way soon, probably Denver. We spent a week fishing/hiking in the Creede area last year and I saw a ton of nice old iron.

Re: New guy with a 1968 K10 SWB 4x4
welcome...i've got one of the other 1449, check out my link to all of my pics. Mine was a one owner so I know it's 100% original, or was.... I'm staying mostly stock but the wheels/tires and adding PS,PB and discs...
FYI, i'll sell you my grille if you are looking for a better one. I have some painted trim that could go with it too...
