has anyone here used the aftermarket/repo front frnders for a 68?
do they fit well? what is the best brand to buy from?
what are NOS parts?

i dont know about the fenders but i think NOS means new old stock

i used a 68 fender on my old 4x4. it fit but not as nice as an original fender. i remember on trucks when they built copperhead that they were all aftermarket parts but the guy on the show said you can make the aftermarket stuff work great if you dont mind doing a bit of metal work and finessing to make everything fit right.

what part of yours didnt fit right ?

I had one that was Triplus and one that was Counterpart. Neither one fit real well at the bottom behind the wheel where they line up with the door. The curve wasnt right. Had to cut the inside support and bow them a little more. Other than that the Triplus was a better overall fit.

mine had a poor fit when the hood was closed, the gap between the hood and fender wasnt parallel from front to back, and i had the hood adjusted right because the other side was bang on. also where the fender bolts to grille at the bottom below the headlight bezel the fit wasnt great where you line up the 2 parts. hope this makes sense

All AFTERMARKET sheetmetal sucks, period!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I would do is try to fix up my original fender and
If not, then I would search for a good solid ORIGINAL one!!

The aftermarket (Taiwanese) metal is not as thick and as durable as the original. The guy that I know that has the $110,000 show truck had some dents in his front fender from people getting against it and doing their thing. His insurance covered the redo on the fender.
