Re: Where did you find your first truck????
First truck: 81 chevy 1500 w/ 305 and a busted trans (forward and reverse only) $200
My dad brought it home for me as a surprise gift when I was about to turn 16, drove it around a field for a while but couldn't afford to fix a transmission so I sold it for $300 with not an extra dime in it. First 67-72: Just bought a 69 GMC 350 auto LWB $2500 arizona truck I'm slightly impulsive... I'm here in AZ tdy for 5 weeks for training and was talking to my instructor about vehicles and he said he had just bought a 70 GMC. Told him I had always wanted one and wanted to check it out so went out after class and gave it a once over. Went home with GMC's on my mind and thought I'd check the local listings and only came up with the one truck listed for $5300, had a nice picture attached and a few decent mods listed. Went to check it out and it was much rougher than anticipated but runs/drives and had zero rust. Offered them 2k after they said they wanted 4k and managed to pick it up for the $2500 listed above 20 years old and this is my 10th vehicle :-P Will be giving this truck to Pa after I fix it up a bit and he moves out of the rust belt, then finding myself a 67 SWB GMC. |

Re: Where did you find your first truck????
I found it sitting in the front yard of a house, 5 doors down from my brother's house, in the country south of Ft. Worth, TX. If it had of been a short bed it would have perfect. But I'm happy. I had to promise my wife that I'd sell my Mustang. That was a quick "Sure!".

Re: Where did you find your first truck????
Saw mine at the local Annual Easter Weekend Car Show in 1997.. It had a 327and the block was painted pink as well as the glove box door and gauge bezel.. Story goes a man restored the truck for his daughter and she sold it etc.. In late August 2001 I saw the truck again at the local Annual Cruise Night.. It had a 4 Sale Sign with a cell number in the window but the owner was nowhere to be found. I called the guy the next day and he asked me if I had looked under the hood on the truck. I told him no cause the truck still had the 350 badges on the front fenders so I figured it still had the pink 327 in it and he insisted I come look under the hood before he gave me price on the truck. When I got there and I looked under the hood and saw the 396, I was done.. I haggled a bit and only got him down 500.00.. I gave him a 500.00deposit right then and seeing I had to cash some securities in to pay for the rest of the truck I gave him a postdated check for the balance postdated to September 11 ,2001.....
