Rearend gear ?

Ok. I pulled the cover off the rear diff and was hoping somebody could help me decode the numbers I got off the ring gear.

here they are as I read them:

381778 11 : 41 GM 2 - 72 1
I can get a picture if needed.

Thanks in advance

Re: Rearend gear ?

41/11= 3.73. You has an open diff.if you can spin one with other down.

Re: Rearend gear ?

Luckily the build sheet was intact with this parts truck, 4.10 positrac axle!!! Also, aren't there tags on the diff cover that say something like "Limited slip gear oil only"? Easiest way to check is to jack up the pumpkin and spin one tire. Spin opposite, open diff. Same direction, POSI!! Can't wait to put this axle to work...

Frame and cab are for sale, has a 305 roller cam from 87-91.
It's plenty fun now though... I got it down to 'racing weight'.
