Getting to TDC
Ok the engine is on a stand and I am almost done with the cleaning up. What would be the best way to get the engine back to TDC? Also should the oil pump line be dead center for the distributor?

That was a good read Mark. Well done on the pic to Just curious but isnt there a way to to tell if its TDC if you pull off the drivers side valve cover and look at #1s rockers? I forget if the first or second is up or down?

I think that #1's rockers at TDC are both even. Question, is it actually possible to get the distributor a "tooth" off??

I did that when I swapped over from points to hei. I had to go out a buy a long screwdriver to turn the oil pump so I could get straightened out.

No the distributor cannot be put in a tooth off. number one is where you make it be. the distributor doesnt know which plug its firing it just throws spark at the cap terminals its your job to line everything up.
