Cold Air Intake??
Can't seem to fork over the $ for a C.A.I has any one made one them selves? All I see you get in the kit is a high flow filter and a piece of pipe or hose and a new box. What is wrong with the stock box seems as though it would let more cold air in as opposed to the K&N BOX.How about a high flow filter and a homemade pipe.Am I missing something here

Re: Cold Air Intake??
With enough determination you can do anything!
When I replaced my intake I noticed that the tube that goes from the filter to the throttle body is the most bizzar shaped thing i've ever seen. Have to wonder why it was designed the way it was. Maybe they tested it to that shape and determined that to be optimum? On my filter box it was made so it only pulls air through two small holes in the fender. The new one shields on three sides (four if you include the hood when closed) and allows air through the two holes and the entire front area behind your headlight. From there it is almost straight down to the ground. Realisticly you could get a cone filter and replace the box the stock filter is in with a home made sheild like they give you? Quote:

Re: Cold Air Intake??
I bought a high flow universal cone filter and mounted it on my MAF sensor through a piece of scrap aluminum i got froma local metal shop and bent around 2 sides towars the engine...i am still usin the stock air tube because i cannot find anything that is a 90 degree bend that 4 inches in diameter, but when i do i will reduce it to 3 inches and use fertalizer hose...

Re: Cold Air Intake??
What i did was take off the old intake tube part and cut off all the noise suppressors and irregularities and then fiberglassed the whole thing, this way it is just as smooth and will flow just as well as a k&n fpik kit. Then i got rid of the factory air box and made a heat sheild and put on a universal k&n air filter. Works awesome, plus it only cost me $70.
