i have rust
both of my front cab mounts need to be replaced. im not to worried about the actual metal replacement, but i really want to make sure its level and my doors are as good as they can be. in the lower right hand corner of my picture you can see the spot the cab broke. its sitting about an inch or two lower on the passener side. the middle of my toeboard is sitting on my transmission, and the drivers side is on its last leg. the forward half of my rockers need to be replaced too. everything from around the front edge of the battery box back is really solid on this cab, so i might be able to reference off of it. i dont know the best route to approach this project. im guessing to just try and position the cab as a guess of where is should be in relation to the frame, brace it, fix the rocker, and then replace the cab mount. im just guessing about how i should do this. im in the military and taking a full 30 days of leave just for this project. so for a month my full time job will be this rust problem. so im trying to gain as much knowledge as i can from everyone. i know that looking for a knew cab would probably be a better choice, but i know this is fixable and i couldnt throw it away. any advice would be great, thanks.

Re: i have rust
You are thinking right, you want your door fitting good and get the cab as level as possible. I am doing the floors on my dad's 52 right now and have a few pictures posted on the link on my signature. Check on one of the last pages for the pictures. I already have the cab mounts in and have been working on the floor. I haven't gotten a chance to work on it for a while but am hoping to get something done this weekend. What brach of the military are you in? My son is in the NAVY in central Ca. Good luck and ask lots of questions and someone on here has probably done it. I can help you in things that I have done.

Re: i have rust
i looked at your link, and i think your dad's truck is looking really good. i wish i could tear into my truck like that, but i try to keep it on the road as much as possible, haha. i been trying to find out more information. a lot of the info isnt really a step by step. i like the *****in products, but i think having a solid stock floor would be the best. im in the air force. i just got back from iraq may 2006 and im going back september of this year. trying to get as much done as i can before then.

Re: i have rust
Here is a article that I used on the floor. I only copied part one because it pertains to the front half. The second part does the back half. He does a really good job explaining things and what to look for. Maybe it will help some.
Thanks for serving our country and good luck in Iraq. http://www.webrodder.com/article.php...9&SID=60&CID=7 Bernie |

Re: i have rust
Denny, No problem...thanks to DWCSR he is the one that hooked me up. I found it more informative than the instructions that came with the floor. I am hoping to get back on the floor this weekend so maybe I can post some pictures of my progress.

Re: i have rust
You should just look around that site. They have all kinds of articles that will be of use. They may be on a dodge or ford but welding in a tri bar or IFS is basically the same in all trucks. Some of the sheet metal work articles are really good.
