AC bracket and heads ?
From the pictures I have swiped from some of you it appears the AC or parts of bolts to the head. When I went to break this thing in I had to butcher 1 of 2 alternator brackets so I could mount an old alternator to use as an idler for the water pump. The bolt hole for the alt in the aluminum head is about 1 hole off and with the hi-rise intake that doesn't work either. The original bracket for the alt is still on the motor on the drivers side in my truck and it looks like I'm only missing the small L bracket . I want to use as close to original as I can for the ac ,everything is there except for the ac bracket and hoses and pump. I really don't understand why the holes in the heads are off and I would love to hear some of that "if I were you stuff" with tall valve covers....

Re: AC bracket and heads ?
Those appear to be alum. heads, not factory cast iron heads. If so, maybe the mfg used a different bolt pattern than the factory.

Re: AC bracket and heads ?
Just trying to keep this alive here, Northern has the small bracket I need to keep the alt. and Ps on the driver side so I'm good to go there.
I'm pretty sure I may have to stay away from a stock ac pump cause of the valve covers and my concern is the funky bolt pattern in the head. Help? The main goal is AC to keep her and me happy. Thanks |
