12 bolt (great) ... the leak is an easy fix .... you can change the gears. Offer him 50.00 and see what he says. By the looks of the underside of that bed i bet he takes the money.

Can`t tell it`s condition by looking. But,I can tell he didn`t take that cover off.I don`t like to buy from liars, though. He didn`t fix anything. Why?Who knows, there`s nothing to it.Leaky rears tend to run low on fluid. Was this? How long?Don`t expect an honest answer from him.

Re: any info will help

lots to consider/ ratio, posi, condition of brakes and drums/about 50% of the time those cover leaks require a new cover and gasket because people tighten the crap out of the bolts distorting the cover holes, but its not an expensive fix// $200 seems high but if its got new drums cylinders and shoes thats a plus// i'd start rockbottom low like said and go from there// also when its removed make sure he doesnt cut the emergency brake cables

Re: any info will help

I would be too scared to even take it as a gift. from what I see it looks like it has been rode hard and put up wet. (sagging springs, bed wood rotted and he threw in some plywood, fresh new air shocks to bring the ride height back up etc)

the only way to tell what it is or its shape is to tear it down, pull the axles, pinion, carrier, and inspect ALL parts closely.

is it just me or is the left tube looked bent?

Re: any info will help

I don't see a bunch of diff lube on the underside of the bed, so it don't look like its leaking at the pinion.....
Maybe just a rear cover seal and chrome cover for 35 bucks, but I'd bid low and see where it goes.
Besides, if he goes with the rear disc set up, it'll prolly end up in his back yard to avoid taking space in the garage. When that happens, you'll have him by the short and curlies. Tell him you want 35 bucks to take it off his property, buy the diff cover and seal, boom, problem solved! LOL

Re: any info will help

I think it is just the wide angle lens of the camera making the tube look bent.

Re: any info will help

My point is the guy lied. You can tell those bolts have not been touched and I don`t know how to reseal the diff cover w/o taking it off.The lube is still shiney without much dirt in it and unless there`s a fresh gasket or RTV that I can`t see than I am 100% sure it`s untouched. If there is a new gasket or RTV,then it`s still leaking because it`s undisturbed at the bolts. It`s a minor thing, but if I guy lies about such an insignificant thing....I`d walk. These aren`t rare and that one`s not cheap.
Does he know what gears/which series it is?Is it the series you need?Something else to consider. Also,if it`s such a good rear, why did he get another to get discs?I`d put them on my good axle that`s in my truck before going through swapping the whole rear.Wouldn`t you?
