Angry rear lights wont work

Im going crazy here!! My rear lights r not working at all not when u step on the break of just turn the lights on. I dissconnted the lights where they come thru the firewall and sent a shot of electricity down the wires and the lights work there so i know there is no short there or bad bulbs. And the fuse is not bad either. I dont know where the problem is.

If any u guys have any ideas or know of common problems on these trucks please let me know. Thanks

How's the firewall plug look?...might be broken wires on the other side of the plug, dirty terminals, possibly a bad switch, but that wouldn't explain the brake lights not working.....maybe even a bad cab to frame ground.....30+ year old wiring is lots of fun......

LIGHTS

I have the same problem with the rear lights in my truck, but not with the brake lights, when I turn the parking lights on, the rear lights work, but when I turn the headlights on, the taillights go off, I messed with the switch and found out that if I push it back in just a bit the rear lights come back on, sooo I suspect a bad switch in my truck, did you replace yours yet?

Wink

I got it fixed, kinda. I cleaned allll the contacts in my fues boz and got a new flasher. It all works now but when i turn on the pass. side turn light the right read break light goes out, but i am pretty sure that is a simple ground problem. But also now my dash lights all went out. I ran out of day light to get that done today so i will get on that one tomorrow.

The turn signal problem you describe now is common.
The turn signal switch needs replaced.
