Ignitor installed, hot runner!
I just got my Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition installed last night. The difference in power is almost unbelievable. This conversion is easier to install than changing out your points. I also found a great deal from autoworks.com...$68.95 delivered in 3 business days.
I held out on points for a long time, but if I would have known the difference this conversion would make I would have ordered the kit the day I got my truck (5 years ago)! This is, of course, just my $2.

What exactly is implicated in doing this, I'm thinking in getting electronic ignition in my truck, but since I don't have a clue how this is done, I'm still reluctant in converting,will I also get better mpgin doing so? any input will be appreciated, Thanks

Pertronix replaces the points, and is very simple.
2 wires, both can go directly to coil (1 is ign, other is trigger) I did this on a VW sandrail ~7yrs ago at a camp ground. 1 engine rebuild later, and years of abuse I never had to touch it again. Was best $$ i spent. Worth the money for sure.

I did my Pertronix 4 yrs ago and have never had to look at it. I wore out my MSD cap about 6 months ago and got a glimps of the Pertonixs when I changed the cap

Pertronix on 250?
I've been thinking about going the Pertronix route on my 250. It is either replace points or upgrade to HEI. This sounds good. Anyone out there with Pertronix on a six?

I've got a pertronix on my 292 i-6 talk about wake a motor up. this thing is extremely tired and in need of a rebuild but it really made a huge difference. I have to watch that I don't rap it too hard now because before my points would float and shut the motor down like a rev limiter but now it will go as high as the bottom end will take it. I don't want to find out where that point is!!!! Easiest thing I've done to my truck. you'll love it.
