Chroming Factory Sport Mirror Bases?
Does anyone know if you can rechrome the base section of a 69-72 factory 'Sport' Mirror? Do they come apart at the ball-socket? If so, HOW?
Thanks, 72longbed |

Re: Chroming Factory Sport Mirror Bases?
No, you can't take them apart(successfully anyway). The head has little strap steel springs inside that apply pressure to the pivot ball. I haven't been able to get one apart yet w/o breaking either the glass or spring. Better off buying new mirrors as the cost to replate the potmetal bases would be the same if not more.
