Clutch question when swapping engines
When I go from my inline to the 350, will i have to replace the clutch with a 12"? I was talking with a mechanic buddy of mine yesterday and he figured I should go with a bigger clutch. but I figured if i am staying with the 3 speed tranny, i might as well stay with the one I have. Any thought on this

I'm not sure what's reccomended, but if I remember right, most v-8s use a 12" clutch, and if I was changing engines, or even pulling an engine to reseal or something, i'd replace the clutch, just because the $$ to replace now makes more sense than pulling the engine again when the old used clutch goes kaput.

I recently swapped the I6 for a V8 in my 72 and used the same clutch (stock 10 1/2" diaphram) with no problems. You may have to go to a larger flywheel if you use a 12" clutch. I have a heavy-duty 11" I plan on putting in mine when the time comes.

If the clutch is in good shape I would use it,becuase the weak point will be that trans behind a V-8. If anything shows the slightist bit of abuse now is the time to change it.
