lugnut adapter stripped! Now what?
ok, I should have known better than to put on one of those special lugnuts with the adapter socket but I did
Now I went to remove the tire (on removed axle right now) and the darn thing stripped (don't you hate that feeling when you feel a bolt "mush"?). I tried vice grips, channel locks etc... My thought is to weld the adapter with a few spotwelds to the lug nut. I already removed the other three and am trashing them... Who has tackled this issue? Thanks...

Re: lugnut adapter stripped! Now what?
get a socket about that size and hammer it on there...
you will lose the socket, but you will get the lug nut off.

Re: lugnut adapter stripped! Now what?
It's smooth around the outside, or it was before the vice grips got ahold of it... It has a funky shape on the inside of the lug, that stripped. I'll give it a shot though, thanks.

12 point sockets work the best.

might come down to torching the closed knuckle off until I get to the back of the stud!

Re: lugnut adapter stripped! Now what?
if your strong and you have all the other lugnuts off you can just yank the tire and snap the stud// tire thieves been doin it that way for years

Re: lugnut adapter stripped! Now what?
Go to your local tire store and ask for a socket to remove striped lugnutts thay have them in diffrent sizes thay work slick thay have groves cut in it and the more torque you put on the wench the deeper thay cut in. Or you could just drill the stud out from the inside of the nut.

Re: lugnut adapter stripped! Now what?
take it to any tire shop. They have tools to do this. You could always buy your own tool from snap on.

Re: lugnut adapter stripped! Now what?
try a cold chisel - drive it counter clockwise and it'll loosen up.
