Plug Wires and Distributor Cap Question

So, a couple of questions about the my plug wire and dist. cap/rotor replacement...

Plug Wires:
I got a set of 8 Bosch wires. All wires have 90* boots on both ends except 2. The second shortest wire and one of the longest ones have a straight boot on the plug end. Is this right? Should only 2 have a straight end? If so, which plugs do these 2 wires go to?

Distributor Cap:
The new cap and rotor kit came with a small package of what I assume is di-electric grease? If that's what it is, where should this be applied? Just on the exterior spade connectors to the coil - or inside the cap as well?

Any suggestions here?

Re: Plug Wires and Distributor Cap Question

Can't help on the wires because of so many different brands, I bought Accells for mine and they were all the same.

But,
When you remove your coil from the old cap you will see a round rubber washer in the center. Open the grease and smear a coat ALL over this rubber washer then re-install it in your new cap. This helps prevent arching inside the cap in the coil area, If you have any left add a little to your power wire connector terminals.

Re: Plug Wires and Distributor Cap Question

Excellent - thanks Man!

Actually, I did a little looking on line and found a few sets of wires that had the 2 straight ends and the rest 90*, so I guess they are right - I just don't get why 2 would be different???

Re: Plug Wires and Distributor Cap Question

For the wires what i did was for the straight, I used the long one for spark plug number 1 and for the short one spark plug number 8.

and for the cap what he said.

Re: Plug Wires and Distributor Cap Question

I believe the spark plug wires come like that when they are universal. Usually the ones you buy from Part house come like that unless it's Accel, Moroso, Mallory, etc.

Duh - - I should maybe read the instructions. After I posted this last night, I remembered that there was a small paper that fell out when I remove the dist cap from the box. Instructions perhaps? Yup - and they say exactly what you just said.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of doing - since 1 is a long wire and 8 is a short one.

Thanks guys.
