New Member in Orlando Area With 83 Short bed.
Greetings everyone. I Just purchased an 83 Chevy Short bed. I live in the Orlando/ Daytona Beach Florida Area. Any other members in the area?
My truck has a 350/350 in it now out of s 89 truck. (atleast that is what I was told) Edlebrock Manifold and Carb. I have lots of plans for this thing. I have an Olds 455 bored .060 over, 9.5 forgged pistons. port and pollished heads and a built TH400 that im going to be putting it over the next couple of months. I have already learned a lot from your site and hope to learn even More. Thx |

Re: New Member in Orlando Area With 83 Short bed.
Yeah its not in really that bad of shape. I bought it because the body is almost totaly solid. The only Rust threw areas are one behind the Passenger rear wheel and one small spot behind the driver side door but that is it. The floor boards near the doors were starting to rust out but I stopped that as soon as I got it. The big problem Ive had is trying to get a complete door. The previous owner gutted the doors taking out windows, regulators , weather stripping and bolts. Ill try to get some better pics when I get my Buchet seats installed. Thnks Guys

If you don't know it already, the motor mounts from the diesel trucks of the 70s will allow you to bolt in that Olds 455. The diesels were Oldsmobile based.
Are you planning to lower it? Slonaker |

Re: New Member in Orlando Area With 83 Short bed.
I wonder why he would remove al that stuff unless he was going to convert it to power windows. Kinda wish i hadnt have scrapt my to junk doors all the guts were good. (but needed to get the metal outta here before town complained)

Re: New Member in Orlando Area With 83 Short bed.
Just a thought, Here's a nice little power window conversion kit for those gutted doors.
I bought a Spal kit for mine but these look much better and easier to install so thinking about going with these as well. http://itsasnapwireandcable.com/new_page_4.htm

Re: New Member in Orlando Area With 83 Short bed.
Thanks for all the replys.
That power window kit seems like a really good deal. I wonder how the install would be. I will be taking plenty of pictures as Im worrking on the truck. Im doing some different custom stuff. Ive got a 100 + yard roll of 50" fiberglass that Im gonna use to make a very custom interior. Oh and I will be dropping it. I was thinking about the 2"/2" Drop. I like the angle it sits at. I just hope a 2 inch drop will be enough. Last edited by chevymalibumn; 03-21-2007 at 08:06 AM. |

Re: New Member in Orlando Area With 83 Short bed.
I contacted a guy that bought a set on ebay, He said the first side took about 3 hrs. and less time on the other once you see what has to be done.
As for the drop, 2" isn't much. 3 on the front and 6 on the back would look better IMO and still have the stance you like. I went 3/7 on mine to level it out.
