Not exactly the best carb for daily driving. The idea of the carb is great... they've used the same setup(variable venturi) on mid 80's ford v8's. Called the VV and what a pain in the arse it was lol.

That is true, they are a variable venturi carburator. That means just that, it will only intake as much air/fuel as you need them too.

One problem they use to have was getting an idle circuit to work for them, because they were mainly designed for full throttle racing and did not need one. The last decade or so they have been marketed for street driven cars, the designers have installed an idle/low speed circuit for milder combo's. This design has been around for a long time and works quite well when set up correctly.

None of my friends run one, but I have never heard negativity towards them.

I ran one for a season and switched to FI. I have one for sale with an idle circuit. Email me if interested. $150.00

Ran one on my 350 for a summer. It took a long time to set up properly, but it ran wonderfully. The only thing!! It looks like a toilet and my gas mileage went that way also. So I sold it to a racer. But it was fun to play with. The new ones may be better for street use.

I talked to a guy that had one on a 350 in a 57 chevy. He said it worked well and that he got about 16mpg. He also said that they won't idle in gear with an automatic. That's all I have ever heard about them though.

I ran one on a 66 chevelle a while back. Kind of cool. Don't get one without the idle circuit. Good luck.
