steering column maintenance-?
I had to replace my column shifter because it was worn out, and since I have it down this far, is there any maintainence that could be/should be done at this point? Everything seems to be working pretty good right now. Just wondering if there is any lubrication that could be done. Also, I read a thread that said you could shorten your steering column by loosening the brackets and pushing it forward, to give yourself more room - is that easier now? Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: steering column maintenance-?
I have a 3 speed column shift that was sticking. It went up and down just fine but it was really stiff going back and forth. I took the steering wheel off and tore the column down past the trun signal switch housing. It was really dry in there. Gave it a couple of squirts of WD-40 on the shifter shaft, Put it all back together, and it works like a charm. I say just keep it lubed up good.

Re: steering column maintenance-?
This requires compressing the intermediate shaft. If yours behaves like mine it means removing it from the truck and putting it in a hydraulic press.
