Front drums stuck
My front drums are impossible to remove. They both have these three studs/rivets in between the wheel studs. Does anyone know if the three outlined in red might be the original factory rivets?
If so, any ideas on how to remove them? It is a 45K mile beater, so it is possible that the front brakes have never been serviced.

Re: Front drums stuck
On my fathers 66 c-10 he bought 2 years ago had the rivets in the drums as well. He busted them off with a chisel which isnt hard at all. the only time Ive seen rivets on drums is when they are from the factory like that. So I would say yes, most likely they are from factory.
Good luck, Chris

Re: Front drums stuck
Chris,
That is exactly what I am thinking. Looks like hammer time.

Re: Front drums stuck
That is still the factory set-up, but you can remove the hub and drum in one shot by pulling the castle nut that holds the wheel bearings on also.

Re: Front drums stuck
yep, just remove the dust cap and the nut underneath it. The whole hub will come off. No need to remove the rivits unless you need to replace the drum.

Re: Front drums stuck
You're looking at almost 40 years of wear and tear even on a low milage beater.I would pull it with the hub just to check the wheelbearings. The brakes may have been serviced that way before also.
