Help with wheels and lowering truck
First off, I'm new and just bought a pretty rare truck. I got a 71 Cheyenne big block 396, factory tach and factory black. I am wanting to do either 18" front and 20" rear or just 20" wheels. Can someone tell me what the widest wheel and backspacing and tire size for the rear and the front?
I plan to lower the truck 4"-6". Also, whats the best way to lower the truck without spending the family savings? |

Re: Help with wheels and lowering truck
It's kinda customary to see a picture of your truck & a little history about yourself/truck on your first post, & then just sit back & let all the great info flow. Sounds like a very cool truck though, I don't have the info you need or I'd share it with you.

Re: Help with wheels and lowering truck
Well, I'm a die hard Chevy guy. I currently have 3 1969 Camaro's that I am building (1) COPO 427 Clone (2) high end pro-touring car (3) a Z28 clone. I just sold 3 69 Camaro's that I built last year and been wanting a nice SWB BBC Cheyenne for a shop truck for some time. I currently have a pro-street S-10 for a shop truck. I don't have any pictures of the truck yet but its going to go back pretty much stock with the exception of Large wheels and lowered. I don't want to take away from the originality too much but give it current curb appeal. I am going with a oak bed and nice black/white houndstooth interior. Oh also, I'm a banker by day and do restoration work at night to keep my sanity.

Re: Help with wheels and lowering truck
HOLY CRAP You Rock! welcome to the greatest place for chevy/GMC Truck lovers to hang out & share trucks/stories & info.
Oh, if you don't get answers quick enough, feel free to look around & find a truck youlike the fit of the wheels on & send them a PM (Private Messaage) & ask what size they are. Last edited by 71chevylowrider; 04-02-2007 at 08:04 PM. |
