Re: 305-E V6 value

Thanks for the feedback guys. And can I consider that $350 an offer if the other interested party falls through?

I'll have to take the time to check the fuel economy manually, but I've made several trips out to were my '72 is stored that is around 130+ mi. R/T. The truck used around 1/4 of a tank or less (though hard to tell when you start on "full") each time. I've had similar results on shorter trips around town as well and my gauge seems to be accurate. My speedo is off a bit though because the truck has taller 16's on it (which will be for sale after the drivetrain swap because I'll be using 5 lug wheels) so I'm sure a normal "count the gallons used vs miles driven" test will not be as accurate as it normally is but I'll figure it as best I can.

I've owned a 305 (a "C" as I recall, though it seems it was not correct for the year) V6 w/3 speed in a '64 GMC LWB Fleetside many years ago, and I'll agree it was not the thrifty fuel sipper that this 305 "E" appears to be. And my '64 had the 1bbl carb as I recall! Maybe it's the way the previous owner has it tuned (timing seems a bit retarded). Maybe it's the cool air gap intake the "E" has vs the type intake my other 305 V6 had. Maybe the truck has a taller rear end gear then normal. I don't know...I just know I've been surprised (and pleased) at it's fuel consumption.

I should have posted some pics of it. A pic is worth a thousand words (of course except when it comes to engines)
