Re: Engine Color
I used chevy orange on my 350. It was the engine enamel that they sell in the parts stores. Has held up pretty good so far.

Re: Engine Color
Spray can orange. Anything else would be out of place IMO. Orange is classic.

Re: Engine Color
Chevy Orange POR15 is the way to go. You'll never get it off once it's dry.

Re: Engine Color
I actually painted mine to match my truck's exterior.
I used the same exact paint, just had them mix it in a spray can for me. It was $15 a can, but worth it to have an exact match. I used some Zinc rich etching primer (kind of like cold galvanizing stuff) and then put on the paint. It hasn't faded, peeled, turned color, or nothing. It is flawless. A lot of it is in the prep I think. I have also heard good things about the DuPont Imron paint on engines. DLB |

Re: Engine Color
Seymours Chevy Orange used it for years and never let me down. They have the big blk and small blk orange paint as far as I know. A small block is a few shades more orange as opposed to a big blk.
esll.

Re: Engine Color
I put dupont centauri on mine, but I think I got the wrong orange. The color chip that the salesman said was it was small so I didn't catch it until I sprayed it. Be careful!

Re: Engine Color
Never heard of that before but, I personally will never paint an engine black again. For this reason. Under artfical light at night it looks like there is oil everywhere. Scared the begesus out of me at the race track one night. Other than that one of the better looking engines I painted, all balck on the hard parts red on all the tins.

Re: Engine Color
I sanded the block smooth, then used an etching primer, then an epoxy primer and then urethane as top coat

Re: Engine Color
Painted mine to match the exterior. If I was painting the exterior a color that would have complemented orange I probably would have left the engine orange.
