Question Hand throttle hook up?

I just got a 67/68 OE dash hand throttle cable and would like to see pics of a stock setup where it hooks into the carb linkage and where it passes through the firewall. Also like to know which knob is on top of the right side when you have both? The choke or the throttle.
If anyone has pics of this hooked into a 67 w/2brl solid linkage that would be even better.
Thanks,

Re: Hand throttle hook up?

Choke cable is on top, Throttle is on bottom. The 1967 pickup I'm buying has this option, but I don't have pictures of the engine. Probably won't venture out to see it again for a couple of weeks.

more later

Not sure if this helps but my 68 K20 has this option.

Re: Hand throttle hook up?

Coleman shows a very correct early hand throttle set-up. A bracket bolts onto the "normal" arm and the moveable portion of the cable extends through the bracket hole and is secured with a brass stop that has a set screw. The bracket allows the cable to float freely as you step on the gas pedal. Only when you use the hand cable does the cable retract and pull on the linkage rod to the carb.

When using a hand throttle on 71/72(cable style) the hand throttle cable mounts to holes on the inside bracketry down by your feet.

There is a dimple on the firewall that indicates where the cable comes through on the 67-70 models. The cable sheath must be secured at the firewall to work properly.

Thanks to everyone who replied here.... looks like I have to go out and hunt up this bracket part now before I can make it work.

Re: Hand throttle hook up?

American rider Have you had any luck assymbling your hand throttle? I went to pull mine out last nite, and the handle and shaft pulled clear out not attached to any cable.

Does anyone have pics of what the underdash setup looks like?

Re: Hand throttle hook up?

Here are some more pics. Coleman, I can't quite see how the bracket attaches to the throttle rod. Does the little bolt and nut go through a hole in the throttle arm somewhere?

Re: Hand throttle hook up?

Sorry, haven't been around for a while, I'll take more pics to try and help out. My 68 k20 is pretty much stock, pulled this truck out of the weeds a few years ago, everything seems to be the original setup.

Re: Hand throttle hook up?

breeh - yes - you are correct. The small nut and bolt hold the bracket to the arm.
