How much does a cab shell weigh?

I'm picking up a cab tomorrow. Just the shell, no doors or glass. Can two guys put this on a trailer?

Re: How much does a cab shell weigh?

Two can do it. Assuming the trailer is normal height.
Easiest way is to roll the cab back (careful not to bend the cab corners), then back the trailer under it as far as possible.
Then just left the rear of the cab and push like hell.
The tapered firewall will allow it to scoot pretty well. Then you just manuver it into starrping position.

Re: How much does a cab shell weigh?

A bare cab is about 500 pounds, most of the weight is up front.
While 2 can do it... I wouldn't try it without 4... at least, not again.

Re: How much does a cab shell weigh?

My father, brother, and I picked up a complete cab (doors, glass, innards) and put it on a trailer once. It was not fun, nor easy, and yes they are front heavy.

I would get some extra help to be safe.

Re: How much does a cab shell weigh?

I found it pretty easy to load and unload my old cab into the back of my truck by myself, and have done it a few times to move it around. It is completely bare: no glass, doors, tank, seat, etc, just the the empty shell.

Re: How much does a cab shell weigh?

Get 4 blocks, lift the cab up and roll the chasis away from underneath. 1 person job !
