Frame bolts - Where should you use loctite?
I took the whole frame apart. And put it back togeather without Locktite. Before i go any further I was wondering what places should have it.
The front cross memebr bolts? Lower sway bar bracket bolts? Leaf Spring bolts? Shock bracket bolts? (Switched both sides to get a better angle for the shocks with the drop)

Re: Frame bolts - Where should you use loctite?
Only the front crossmember was removed (unbolted)
The front frame mounts for the sway bar was replaced with a bolt in bracket for lowered trucks thus two of four rivits that hold the front crossmembers were removed and replaced by bolts. The rear leaf ubolts and frame mounts were taken apart.

Re: Frame bolts - Where should you use loctite?
I would go with the red since it's the strongest. The bolts to the frame most likely will never be unbolted again after this time

Red on everything, especially if you replaced rivets with bolts.

Re: Frame bolts - Where should you use loctite?
I wouldnt locktite any of them, i would use lock washers and torque them properly. If you have to use locktite use blue.

Re: Frame bolts - Where should you use loctite?
Actually the best way would be to open up the holes to 7/16'' and use a grade 8 bolt (fine thread) with a grade 8 flat washer on both sides with a type 'C' nut torqued down. RED loctite wouldn't hurt, but not necessary with the C nut.

Re: Frame bolts - Where should you use loctite?
I reamed any holes out that rivets were in to the next size so I had good tight holes. Installed Grade 8 bolts in everything, lock washers, red loctite, and torqued to spec. Then on top of that, I used torque seal, which is a thick paint in a tube that is dobbed on the exposed threads and nut to tell if a nut has moved. I will not go to that extent on the body panels, but I made no compromise on the chassis.

Re: Frame bolts - Where should you use loctite?
I used poly-lock nuts on all of my frame crossmembers AND on my new engine mounts. ECE ships poly-lock nuts and washers with all of their parts, so ... if it's good enough for them .....
