Any El Camino guys out there?

Hello all,

Last week I sold my 72 Cheyenne Long Bed and now have an 1986 EL Camino. Not sure if this is the forum for El Co owners, but if anyone knows where that forum may be, please let me know. Thanks.. Will

Yeah, I thought about that, but I'm probably the lone ranger with the only ElCo on this site.

Naaa its okay, i've got an S-10. I used to hang out with all these nuts back at CT when they didn't have an S-10 board. They took me under there wing, I guess.

Welcome, I really like Elky's myself.

thanks guys for your input... As I said, I sold my 72 Cheyenne to pick up something smaller like this 86 Elky. It's sweet and will be posting pics of it soon. For now, I just had some simple questions as if any came with 350 motors or just 305s? How many were produced in 86 and that sort of stuff.. I'll keep hunting for a website but in the meantime, thanks for the hospitality..

Hi goat, Got a 1976 Elky in my collection. You can see it at www.picturetrail.com/chauffeur. One of my neighbors has an '86 with a 350 in it, not sure if it's a stock setup tho'. I know some of the late 60's early 70's elkys were available with bigblocks. Talk about "shake n' bake!!!!!!! Ken

goat455, most of the elky's i've seen have come stock with 305's. I do believe that some had 350's in the late 70's.

Gotta love the elcamino. It's the ultimate vehicle for those who can't commit . . . @ least that's what all my friends used to tell me when I drove mine(I had been DATING my GF @ the time for 10yrs). I've gone through them- top to bottom, so if ya need any info ask away. If I don't know, I can point you in the right direction.

elkys

im my younger days i had a 1974 El Camino that came with a stock 350 in it. Eventually i put a different 350 modified motor in it and it eventually caught fire and burned lol i dont think they ever had a stock 350 in the eighties in them i only remeber 305s which were ok and i think they even had some with v6s

goat,

I had a '79 and as far as i know none came with a 350 all the way till chevy killed it off, the 4.3 was the standard and the 5.0 was the optional motor. Not shure about the 80's something SS ELKI that may have had a 350.

I got mine from a buddy that went in the army his dad bought it new. As soon as i got it home the 305 died and wouldn't restart so I put a 350/350 in it and it was a good runner got a few pic's of it on my web site the one smokin' the hide's aint no stock 305 gonna do that.

If i were you i would dump the 305 & metric trany pure junk IMO.

As far as production #'s chevy made a but load of 'em.

Thumbs up will a '66 count?

I may be in the "wrong" year board with this, but thought Id post with other "Elky" owners. I bought this a couple years ago. Its an AZ truck with factory buckets / console 4 spd. Has small block and SS hood.

I bought it "just to drive" while my 70 Chevelle is being restored......... BUT I kinda under-estimated the "fun factor"!!!!
