I am almost done with the some front end work on my 94 dually. Heres my prob...The new ti rod end nuts are turning the ball stud before it has a chance to press through the knuckle and press thru the center rod...what am i doing wrong? How should I get these tightened? Please help a fat man out!

Re: tie rod help
It is kind of hard to get those friction nuts down sometimes. It seems to be easier with an impact gun. What you need to do is make sure the taper is clean and dry both spindle and tie rod side. Oil or grease makes it almost impossible! Use a large (like 3') pry bar or pipe to pry between the control arm and tie rod effectively pressing the two together while tightening the nut. That is usually all that it takes. I don't know what was wrong with the old castle nut and cotter pin method ehh?
Good luck

Re: tie rod help
Yeah, I would have prefered the castle nuts. I took two sockets on either side of the rod then c clamped em and tighted it just enough for them to seat so I could get the nuts to tighten...That took longer than anything.
